This could possibly be the easiest (and most delicious) recipe ever, and hot buttered rum is the perfect warm-up drink for a lazy evening at home. You can make it with or without rum, which is a bonus for those like myself that have been either pregnant or breastfeeding for, well, years..
This recipe is also great to pack up into small mason jars to give as gifts! I’m sure your neighbors/family/friends/
Don’t be frightened when you take a look at the ingredients…no one ever said that hot-buttered rum was a health food! (Keep in mind, you’re only using a little bit of the mixture at a time.)
Ingredients:
1 pound powdered sugar
1 pound brown sugar
1 pound butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 teaspoons nutmeg
3 teaspoons cinnamon
3 teaspoons all spice
1 quart vanilla bean ice cream
Let the butter get very soft and melt the ice cream at room temperature. Add the powdered sugar to the melted ice cream. Use a stand mixer or hand mixer to combine the brown sugar and softened butter. Then add in the powdered sugar/ice cream mixture, the vanilla extract and the spices, mixing until completely combined. Place into airtight containers and keep mixture refrigerated until you’re ready to use it. (Or put it in the freezer!)
When you are ready to use the mixture, spoon 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture into a mug of hot water, and add as much (or as little) rum as you’d like. Enjoy!
