Our 2 year old daughter loves her pop-up books these days, which gave me the idea of creating some easy pop-up Valentines Day cards! I cut out the pieces while she was napping, and let her go to town on the cards with some glitter pens! (I was walking around Target with ACTUAL glitter in the cart, when thankfully I came to my senses and decided that was a terrible idea…)

Co-sleeping. One of the most controversial parenting topics out there. My beliefs about family sleeping arrangements have shifted several times since I became a mom. I understand the push for babies to sleep alone, in a crib, on their back. I get it. And I’m sure we can all agree that as parents, all we really want is what’s best for our children and our family.
But what happens to families like ours, whose babies REFUSE to sleep like that?…
The name doesn’t lie. My family has been making these bran muffins for as long as I can remember, and they are just. so. good. I promise they don’t taste like saw-dust, like I firmly believe many bran-muffins do. They’re fluffy with the perfect chewiness, and they’re excellent after being re-heated from frozen, which is a good thing because this recipe is HUGE. (You’ve been warned.) You can keep the batter covered in a bowl in the fridge for a week and bake a new batch every day, or you can bake them all and then freeze them in airtight bags, reheating in the oven when you’re ready. I can’t tell you how long they stay good for in the freezer, because they never last long at our house.

It’s time to get rid of a few of the zillions of chemicals that invade my every day life. Like store bought deodorant, for example! Full of harsh stuff like aluminum chloride and triclosan, it’s not the best thing to be slathering on my skin everyday, particularly while breastfeeding. This recipe I’m going to share with you is really amazing. I tried this for the first time about a year ago when my brother made me a little sample sized container to try, and I was hooked. (Thanks for the recipe, bro!) Although homemade deodorant doesn’t have the antiperspirant component, it works incredibly well as a deodorant. Don’t worry coworkers, I’m not quite ready to give up the antiperspirant just yet on days that I work… Unless you’re expecting to get super sweaty, I think you’ll love this easy recipe! You should be able to find all of the ingredients in your local health food store, and this amount should last you about 2 months. Store at room temp!

Now that our daughter is two and a half, she’s really going to be able to enjoy the holidays in a whole new way this year. It’s so exciting for her (and for me! Eeek!). Christmas celebrations are pretty obvious for little kids…the tree, the lights, the gifts, a trip to see Santa…no wonder they get excited about it!

It’s no secret that I love carbs in every size and shape. Sometimes it’s bread, sometimes mashed potatoes…but there are those times when you just need a cookie. No, I don’t mean a store bought cookie full of preservatives out of the cupboard. I mean a fresh, melty, hot out of the oven cookie. I’ve done the ‘cookie in a mug’ thing in a pinch (and they’re great, by the way), but this is the easiest, most convenient way to use up a big batch of cookie dough.
